The Opportunity: Architecting a Data Engine at Scale
Are you ready to define the technical future of a platform that developers genuinely love? We are on a mission to bring deep observability closer to the developer's everyday workflow, making sophisticated insights accessible and intuitive.
We are seeking a Staff Product Engineer to lead the architectural vision of our backend. You will join a core team responsible for architecting our usage-based billing systems, managing complex metering, and automating high-stakes data flow between our product, payment providers, and internal reporting systems.
This is not just a coding role; you will own the technical roadmap, drive economic efficiency in our data infrastructure, and serve as a force multiplier for a team of talented engineers.
The Challenge You’ll Tackle
- Turn Usage into Revenue: Build and scale rock-solid metering systems that count every event and sync perfectly with payment providers (like Stripe) to ensure 100% accuracy.
- Drive Reliability & Risk Management: Own the platform's reliability, proactively identifying architectural risks and fostering a security-first engineering culture.
- Mentorship & Process Evolution: Define standards for code quality, testing, and observability. You will simplify complex designs to align with product goals and mentor engineers across the organization.
- AI-Augmented Development: Expertly leverage agentic coding tools to accelerate development while applying deep technical judgment to verify and refine the output.
What Success Looks Like
- In 3 Months: You will have extended the billing system to provide deeper transparency into usage, helping customers maintain full control over their costs.
- In 6 Months: You’ll establish new architectural patterns in Go for our billing solutions and actively mentor the team on integrations with marketplace and CRM tools.
- In 12 Months: You will be the technical authority for our backend strategy, guiding the team through major scaling challenges and bridging the gap between technical constraints and customer needs.
Who You Are
- The Billing Expert: You have proven experience with usage-based pricing models and billing systems. You understand that when money is involved, data accuracy is everything.
- The Architect: You possess deep expertise in scaling distributed systems using Go. You understand the trade-offs of different patterns and can explain them clearly. (Java knowledge is a strong plus).
- The Product-Minded Engineer: You believe internal tools should be as polished as customer-facing ones. You work autonomously and are comfortable challenging ideas to find the best solution.
- The Cultural Leader: You have a track record of improving team processes, fostering radical candor, and elevating the quality of work around you.
- The Observability Enthusiast: You live and breathe OpenTelemetry and monitoring standards.
Why Join Us?
- Strategic Impact: Your architectural decisions will define the trajectory of the platform for years to come.
- High-Talent Environment: Work in a high-trust, fast-paced remote team that values autonomy and over-communication.
- Modern Stack: Lead the way in a "remote-first" culture with a competitive package and stock options.
